Needlestick Injuries - Still a Big Risk

Injuries due to contaminated puncture devices are still the most frequent cause of accidents in hospitals. This is a significant source of danger for many employees in the healthcare industry.

At this moment in time, there are already more than 20 bloodborne pathogens that we know of. The most dangerous are HBV, HCV and HIV. Recent studies show that it is up to ten times more likely for more infections
to occur in a hospital setting than in an external setting.

Prevention - The only way to avert damages

The aftermath of an infection can have far-reaching effects on both the career and the personal circumstances of the affected person and his/her family, with social as well as financial consequences. This is a burden that cannot be carried by the affected person or insurance company.

Damages must be averted by correct prevention.

Your Power for Safety
  1. VACUETTE® SAFETY Blood Collection Set

    Specially for difficult vein conditions

The VACUETTE® SAFETY Blood Collection Set has been specially developed for patients with difficult vein conditions , but is equally suitable for any regular blood taking situation, due to the gentle comfort it provides to a patient. As the protection mechanism is activated whilst the needle is still in the vein, a high level of safety is ensured. Correct activation via retraction is indicated by an acoustic signal. With the transparent view window, visual control of successful vein penetration is possible, thus increasing venipuncture safety.

  2. VACUETTE® SAFETY Winged Set

    Where safety starts

The VACUETTE® SAFETY Winged Set is a sterile, single-use winged blood collection set with a safety mechanism which has been found to reduce the rate of needlestick injuries by up to 60%, compared to the use of a non-safety device. It consists of a stainless steel needle, colour-coded wings, a flexible tubing, a luer adapter and a safety shield for the needle.

  3. VACUETTE® QUICKSHIELD Safety Tube Holder

    Do the Twist

The VACUETTE® QUICKSHIELD Safety Tube Holder is especially suitable for routine blood collection. There is no change to the usual collection technique, and the safety shield is activated one-handed. This product can provide the user with the simplest handling and reliable infection protection.

  4. VACUETTE® QUICKSHIELD Complete/Complete PLUS

    The complete product

The VACUETTE® QUICKSHIELD Safety Tube Holder is also available as a complete product with a needle as a pre-assembled product. You can choose either a conventional VACUETTE® Multiple Use Drawing Needle or a VACUETTE® VISIO PLUS Needle. The VACUETTE® VISIO PLUS Needle with optical venipuncture control makes blood collection much easier for the user. With the transparent view window in the needle hub, blood flow is visible immediately upon correct vein penetration.

  5. VACUETTE® CLIX Safety Hypodermic Needle

    One simple "clix" to fix

The VACUETTE® CLIX Safety Hypodermic Needle has an integrated safety mechanism. When the user hears a click, they know that the safety shield is positioned securely around the needle and they can proceed without any risk of a needlestick injury. When used in combination with the HOLDEX® single-use holder with a practical Luer slip connection, safe blood collection, easy routine procedures and more comfortable venipuncture are ensured.
